What I've Been Wearing!

So it's finally time to show you all what I've been wearing these past couple of weeks!! Now, I didn't take pictures of EVERY outfit I wore, and some of these will be repeated from older posts, but I wanted to share some of the... better pictures LOL. (Really, a bunch of them came out really badly!) As a note, everything shown here is offbrand, but I'll let you know where I got them. ;)

So, let's start! Chronological order!

You should remember this. It's from A Day Dressed in Light!
Shirt: Worthington, acquired at a thrift store!
Dress: Swap-meet find! ;)
Headbow: Also found at a swap meet!
Socks: Marshals. ;D (They were hidden in the clearance pile! They obviously have terrible taste)
Shoes: Thrift store~

Hmmm, a sweet co-ord~!
Skirt: Swap meet.
Shirt: Swap meet!
Headbow: Swap meet + adjustments by me!
Strawberry earrings: Claire's :)
Socks: ...my dresser? LOL, I forget where I got those! xD
Shoes: Mudd, found at a thrift store!

Friend taking picture: "Stand straight and look deadpan!" Me: "....Why?" Friend: ":D" Hate the expression... but it shows off the outfit nicely lol!
Shirt: Vintage, from an estate sale~
Skirt: Thrift store!
Socks: same as a Day Dressed in Light :)
Shoes: Payless. Wonderful find. :D
Bow: H&M.
Hair flowers: H&M also. :)

A (mild) Gosu Rori has appeared! :D
Shirt: Swap meet~ (It's the navy blue one from the archery shots! :D)
Skirt: Thrift store, the one I modified :)
Tights... also unknown, from the abyss of my dresser. :D
Dem Payless shoes again~ :D
Head: H&M flowers.
Vest: Thrrrift store~
Cross earrings: Claire's! :)

Aaaand winner for best co-ord/photo:

Kuro Loli!! The same friend who took the deadpan shot also took this AMAZING picture! Definitely my favorite~ :D
Shirt: Thrift store! :D
Skirt: Same black one. :)
Shoes: Same Mudd shoes.
Same vest..
Coat: Uuuummm.. *runs off to check* Kenneth Cole! I think it was bought at JC Pennies, but it was a gift, so I'm not sure lol.

Also, the experimental not-so-loli co-ord:

This oufit has a lot of my favorite things: Sock Dreams socks, the best boots I've ever bought (at a thrift store! :D See the trend?), the BUNNY SCARF I purchased at a convention, and that hat that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. It doesn't fall under any of the traditional categories of lolita... BUT I wore it anyways. The point of the lolita lifestyle is to surround yourself with beautiful things.. it would be a shame to not include things just because it isnt canon in the subculture!!

Anyways, bye for now! I may post one more post sometime this weekend or next week, with some of the reactions I received. We shall see! ;)

Sewing and Adjustments!

So here's my (short) post about my recent sewing 'projects'. :D There are two things that I've modified lately: a skirt, and a headbow! Both were pretty simple adjustments, but lead to rather dramatically different results!

The skirt, originally, was a floor-length basic black Aristocrat-style skirt. Too long, but could perfectly fit a petticoat! So I brought it home from savers with the plot to ruin a perfectly good Aristocrat skirt by shortening it. :D (I forgot to take pictures of the before and during stages! Sorry!) I originally JUST wanted to shorten it, so I left a little room at the bottom (or at least what I thought was a little!) and sewed it up.

When I put it on, though, it was still ~4in to long!! LOL. Well... at least it wasn't 4" too short! xD So I thought I'd gather up the edges and ruffle it all the way around. Well.. I've never attempted ruffles before (to frightened to try) so I sewed it gathered up at just the seams to start. after ewing the third seam, I had a realization: It looked GREAT just gathered in selected spots! So I did that and left it like that. End result:
Which is now one of my favorite skirts lol. So elegant.. and so simple :)

The headbow I modified was even easy lol! I didn't even SEW anything.. I just used some embellishing glue for part of it. ;) Here's what it was (sorry, fuzzy pics ahead):
A cute headbow on it's own, but a bit lacking in creativity! So I took a regular red hair bow, plied the heart pendant off another clip, and glued the heart pendant to the small bow.
Bing! Snazzy! Then I simply took the little bow and clipped it on the bigger one through the center loop, like so:
Lovely, right? (I typically clip it on straight though lol!) And the best thing is that it's so versatile! It could be two different headbows and a cute clip-on bow :D And being as thrift-conscious as this loli is, versitality is a wonderful thing.

Anyways, that's all for now! I wanted to post this topic before my recent outfits because I wear that skirt a bunch, and I wanted to give you all a point of reference when I say 'handmade' etc. BUT next post will absolutely be about outfits!! I also ~may~ get n a topic about comments I've recently received, but my memory isn't wonderful, so we'll see. Maybe I'll just highlight the ones I get most often? Hmmm~

Good night~!

A Night Dressed in Light

Hello everyone! Sorry for not posting yesterday, but I really haven't been feeling well. BUT for tonight: the long-promised post about the Glow!

The Glow was an nighttime art exhibit on the Santa Monica Pier, and a bunch of friends and I decided to attend.  It was... fun/interesting/disappointing lol.

When we got there, we arrived just in time to see the sun set! It was really lovely. But I was late running out the door, so my friend did my make-up when we got there... it was pretty funny :D

(Trying desperately not to laugh lol)

When the sun finally set and it began to get dark, the art pieces were opened to the public. Some where quite interesting! Like this life guard tower that ACTIVELY BUBBLED according to the volume of the audience's noise:

(SO AWESOME!)

There were a couple of other cool pieces, such as a gigantic glowing bridge, but mostly... not so great LOL.

(In this pic: The face of the person singing karaoke was projected into a bubble)

It really wasn't spectacular xD But I had a fun time hanging with my friends, and one person actually came up to me (and my other friend who was wearing BTSSB) and told us we looked like DOLLS. :D He and his girlfriend were really sweet, and it's one of the best compliments I've received to date!

I also really enjoyed this event because it gave me an excuse to wear GLOWSTICKS as part of my outfit! :D Hehehe~!

(Oh, glowsticks. How I love thee.)

Thus, the title... except this time I was LITERALLY dressed in light! xD Oh, and just for good measure, derpy shot of my friend:

(FANTASTIC face, am I right?)

Anyways... so that sums up my night (brief summary lol). Tomorrow, and I PROMISE it will be tomorrow, I will post about sewing things! But for now... SLEEEEP. =_=

Bye~!

More Bunnies...

I know I said I'd post a lovely long post about something today, but I'm feeling under the weather and have things that need doing, so I'll post tomorrow. (I will also post Sunday, I swear.) In the mean time, have your daily dose of ADORABLE.

The Good, the Bad, and the UGLY.

The Good: My image links in the last post are fixed! So you all can finally cast your eyes upon those gorgeous dresses! <3 And I SWEAR I will beautify my picture soon!! Probably over the weekend. And then my page will look lovely!

ALSO, Angelic Pretty (remember my favorite brand?!) is opening a store in the US in November!! And I might actually be able to go to the opening!! IT WILL BE ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS. And of course, I would also have to visit the BTSSB store there at the same time :D

The Bad: Blogspot is ~officially~ glitched. It seriously will NOT allow me to post images without completely going berserk. Therefore, I am going to have to stick to links. :/

I also got my Glow pictures back finally. <3 Unfortunately most of the pictures are fuzzy and not great quality (night pictures + glowsticks = confused camera lol), so it will take a ittle bit for me to sort through them, and try to resurrect them. THEN I'll post a Night Dressed in Light post C:

The UGLY: I love AP (again, fav brand!), but sometimes... oh man. Sometimes they come out with things that make me CRINGE. I know they're only human, but really? If you stalk the EGL Community Sales livejournal, you may know what I'm talking about. Someone recently posted a hooded cutsew by AP, which looks like this:

Really, AP? What WERE you thinking?? After seeing this, I really thought of the Lolita blog  Makelovely, which has a 'WTF' section as well. (BTW, her blog is SO MUCH BETTER, so go view it!)

That aside, I won't have time to post tomorrow, but expect a post sometime Friday, probably about improv sewing! I want to post that before my coords though, for reasons that you shall see ;D

Good-bye for now~!

**Side note: If you happen to like that cutsew, and think it's amazing... power to you. Rock it. As for me... I wouldn't wear it if I were -paid-.

These Are a Few of my Favorite Things

***COMPLETELY TEMPORARY EDIT: Blogspot is FREAKING out on me, and will NOT let me post images right now, so I will post them AS SOON AS it starts behaving!!! SORRY!!!***

Besides raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, the thing that gets me through the stormy nights is browsing brand dresses! So here begins a little show-and-tell of my favorite lolita brand!!

....What's that? Baby the Stars Shine Bright? NOPE! Sorry folks, but this loli's a bit unorthodox! My vote goes to Baby's competitor, Angelic Pretty!!!

There are a few different reasons why I like AP better, the most prevalent being their use of bright colors and high contrast! (Not all of their items have either of these, but much of them do.) So today I'm going to share a few of my favorite AP garments with you all. :D

Beauty #1: AP's "Going Out" JSK in mint!
I have a bit of a thing for mint xD unfortunately, I don't OWN anything in it yet!! ;_;

Beauty #2: AP's "Gingham Marguerite" halter neck JSK in... everything!
I really couldn't pick a favorite color for this one. They're all quite lovely, don't you think~?

Beauty #3: AP's "Bunny-Chan Pocket" JSK (2009) in red!
IT HAS BUNNIES ON IT. THEREFORE, I WANT IT. Enough said.

Beauty #4: AP's "Fantastic Dolly" JSK in everything!
I love all the different color variations of this JSK, but my favorite has to be ivory, followed by red. The ivory one has actually inspired me to completely design my own JSK using a white/black/cyan color scheme... we'll see if it every happens! xD

Beauty #5: AP' "Jewelry Jelly" JSK in black!
The contrast in this JSK is WONDERFUL, and very elegant!

Beauty #6: AP's "Chandelier" skirt in white!
This skirt is beautiful in and of itself; add the chandelier print, and I'm SOLD. I just wish they had the gold print on black, BUT NO, the used silver on the black skirt...

Beauty #7: AP's "Melty Chocolate" JSK in mint!
This is debatably my second favorite loli item of all time. the mint and the brown go so well together, it just makes me melt.. like chocolate!

Beauty #8: AP's "Berry-Chan" JSK in red!!!!
DREAM DRESS. DREAM DRESS. DREAM. DRESS. SO beautiful. I didn't believe in love at first sight until I saw this dress. Of course it also happens to be a rather rare dress, so of course I'll probably never be fortunate to own the real deal (especially in my size... I'll never be a 25" waist, darn it). Maybe someday I'll be lucky enough. /Maybe./ And on that day, I'll be very, very happy. And broke. :D (Trying to resist the urge to shop myself into that dress...)

Also, I still haven't received any comments about what anyone would like to read about? I'm really open to topics! Otherwise, the next thing I'll likely write about is my recent sewing endeavors, which mostly entails altering bought things.

Anyways, that's all for now! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I hope you are all inspired to live your life surrounded with beautiful things!

Bye!!

Story of My Life, p.2

I have A LOT to write about, so I'll start by continuing on the idea of the last post!
OUCH! This is what happens when you prioritize fashion. (I put moleskin on it later and it was fine... but at the time I didn't have anywhere to take of my tights, so I put bandaids overtop xD) I've never worn those shoes for that long before, so I didn't know! But we all have a pair of shoes we simply ADORE, but can't wear all day, like I did these. Lesson learned? YEP! Put moleskin on in the morning before I go out! :D

...What's that? Just don't wear them? HECK NO. I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH. <3

Oh, and remember that petti monster?
IT HAS RETURNED! (Naturally.) Being excessively fluffy and warm, my friend here has decided to use it as a pillow. LOL. It worked perfectly, of course. (Our class went to see Project Bandaloop perform. It was amazing!! The pictures came out terrible, though. I have a video, but I'm not going to bother posting it unless someone asks xD)

Oh, and MORE ARCHERY!! (Because, let's face it--it's pretty funny to see a loli shooting a bow xD)

THIS lolita is ARMED >:D (Also, I know those flats are horrid with that outfit, but heels aren't allowed on the range!)

And the I-wish-this-was-the-story-of-my-life pic:
BEST grouping+placement I've ever managed, wearing nearly all black on a ~90F day. Win? I think yes. (I couldn't help myself, I HAD to show this off :D)

Alright, I SWEAR those are the last of the archery pics xD (at least until I get an EVEN BETTER set :D) But really, I have so much to post about, I doubt it will make it on the blog for a while.

So what would you like me to post about next? I haven't gotten my Glow pics (STILL. DAMMIT GIRL, I NEED THOSE.) but I'd like to do a post about the things I've made recently (the skirt above and a headbow), about my dream dress (because IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL -cry forever-), about shopping images to make them GORGEOUS (which I will be doing soon! I promise!!), a post dedicated solely to what I've worn recently, and somethng about cooking/making snacks (though I haven't really done any cooking lately, so I can't do that yet either lol). Or maybe someone has a suggestion~?

Tell me what you'd like me to write about next! C:
